“3 Things in the City I Love” Contest – #3thingscityilove

Is there a city that you are in love with and would recommend to anyone? Now there is the chance to write about your favourite city in the world as well as being in for the chance of winning some great prizes! Velvet Escape and Traveldudes, have teamed up with Wimdu to bring you the “3 Things in the City I Love” Contest.

It’s open to anyone who owns a travel blog or website. All you need to do is:

• WRITE about your absolute favourite city – please don’t forget to mention why you love it so much!

• DESCRIBE 3 things to do and/or see that you recommend to anyone visiting this city. You should write at least 300 words here!

• INCLUDE links and text: This is my submission for the ’3 Things in the City’ I Love contest by Velvet Escape, Traveldudes and Wimdu.co.uk.

• PUBLISH your entry on your travel blog or website

Once you have published your post, simply include the post URL in the comments section of this page. Don’t forget to fill in the fields for your name, blog and email address.

Each submission will be tweeted by Velvet Escape, Traveldudes and Wimdu with the hashtag #3ThingsCityILove.

Prizes:

Wimdu has provided the prizes – a selection of vouchers (totalling 1,800 Euros!). These can be used on Wimdu to cover accommodation, whether it’s for a city break with family and friends or simply somewhere to stay whilst travelling around the world or attending any of the travel blogger conferences.

1st Place: Voucher(s) worth 800 Euros

2nd Place: Voucher(s) worth 400 Euros

3rd Place: Voucher(s) worth 250 Euros

RUNNERS UP will also receive a 50 Euro Voucher each – that’s unless your entry doesn’t come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place, but still gets through to the finalist stage.

Here are just a few examples of how these vouchers can be spent:

The first prize can cover several nights’ accommodation in Girona and a week or so in Barcelona, Spain. It’s absolutely perfect for TBEX Europe 2012 delegates! Or, what we also recommend, is a week in a stylish flat in Paris or London.

The second prize can cover your accommodation for ten days in Portugal, which is ideal for TBU Porto delegates!

The third prize is more than enough to cover a long weekend’s stay in just about any city that you can think of.

Things to Note

The deadline for submissions is Monday, 6th August. Velvet Escape and Traveldudes will each choose five finalists, making it a total of TEN FINALISTS, based on the quality of the post and how unique the top 3 tips are.

From Wednesday, 8th August, the names of the finalists will be announced on the Velvet Escape and Traveldudes Facebook pages – one finalist will be announced every day on each Facebook page (until all finalists are known). If you have submitted your post URL on Velvet Escape (i.e. the comments section on this page), then be sure to check the Velvet Escape Facebook page to see if you’re one of the finalists.

On Monday, 13th August, the THREE WINNERS will be drawn out of a ‘hat’ and will be announced via the Facebook and Twitter streams of Velvet Escape, Traveldudes and Wimdu. The ‘hat’ we’ll be using is Random.org

In the following months, the posts of the ten finalists will be featured on Velvet Escape and Traveldudes as guest posts, with links back to the finalists’ blogs, twitter streams and Facebook pages.
